How to choose windows, doors, and sunroom glass?

A. Why should we consider the type of glass when choosing doors and windows?

1, Many people will ask, choose windows and doors is not the choice of profiles on it? Why should we consider glass?

Glass, as an important part of windows and doors and sunrooms, bears the performance of light, heat insulation, sound insulation, safety, and beauty. Moreover, now there are more and more types of glass, and each family can choose different types of glass according to their own surroundings and life needs.

B, What are the common types of windows and doors on the market glass?

We usually use the following types of window and door glass in home decoration: tempered glass, insulating glass, laminated glass and coated glass. Let's learn more about them below ~

1、Tempered glass

Tempered glass is a flat glass after the heat treatment process, the use of tempering treatment to enhance the glass, high security, even if broken, the fragment will become similar to the honeycomb blunt angle broken small particles, not easy to cause serious injury to the human body, strong impact resistance, good thermal stability, the application in the country is very wide.

Identification: look at the glass corners to see if there is a toughened 3C mark, playing 3C mark (the kind that can not be scratched off) is basically tempered glass.

1, Safety. When the glass is damaged by external forces, the fragments will become similar to the honeycomb-shaped blunt angle broken small particles, not easy to cause serious injury to the human body.

2, High strength. The impact strength of a tempered glass of the same thickness is 5 to 10 times that of ordinary glass, and the bending strength is 5 to 10 times that of ordinary glass.

3, thermal stability. Tempered glass has good thermal stability, and can withstand temperature differences of 3 to 5 times that of ordinary glass.

2、Insulating glass

Insulating glass is made of two or more layers of tempered glass bonded and sealed. The middle is filled with dry gas, and the aluminum strip is filled with desiccant to ensure the dryness of the air between the glass sheets. Due to the low thermal conductivity of air, dry air is sealed between the two layers of glass, which can effectively block the loss of heat conduction, so that the insulating glass to achieve energy saving, anti-condensation, sound insulation, and other effects.

(1) Characteristics.

Thermal insulation, heat insulation, energy saving: the thermal conductivity of air is 1/27 of glass. dry air layer, effectively blocking the conduction of heat, so that the insulating properties of insulating glass are greatly improved, improving the thermal insulation properties of doors and windows.

Anti-condensation: Due to the excellent insulating properties of insulating glass, in winter, insulating glass windows greatly improve the surface temperature of the indoor glass, which can ensure that the surface of the glass window does not condense. It avoids water mist to block the view and keeps the humidity of the room, making the indoor air more pleasant.

Sound insulation: using filled gas to partially absorb the energy of the medium and high-frequency sound vibrations, thus reducing the sound wave sound level. So insulating glass has a good sound insulation effect for high-frequency noise, for example, the sound of talking, the sound of school trombone, etc. But it is less ideal for sound insulation of low-frequency noise such as traffic because the insulating glass will resonate with low-frequency noise in the low-frequency region. For example, train sound, airplane sound, engine sound, etc.

(2)Applicable places: doors, windows, sunrooms are all applicable (Note: except sunroom roof)

(3) Does not apply to places: home living on the road and railroad side and other low-frequency noise scenes, sunroom roof.

3、Laminated glass

The laminated glass is made of two or more pieces of glass sandwiched between the organic polymer interlayer, after a special high-temperature and high-pressure process, made of advanced safety glass. Commonly used laminated glass interlayers are PVB, SGP, EVA, PU, etc. Laminated glass is most commonly used in architectural doors and windows.

(1) The greatest characteristics of laminated glass are 3 points.

Safety: even if the glass is broken, the fragments will not fall off for a time

Sound insulation: the film in the middle of the laminated glass is equivalent to a damping layer, mainly using the PVB rubber layer to absorb low and medium frequency sound waves to suppress the vibration of the glass to achieve the effect of sound insulation. Both high-frequency noise and low and medium-frequency noise are very good.

UV protection: PVB film can effectively filter UV rays and protect valuable furniture.

The sound insulation effect is better than insulating glass, good safety, but poorer heat insulation than insulating glass.

(2) Applicable places: sunroom roof, indoor partition, and other safety demand scenes; scenes with high sound insulation requirements.

(3)Unsuitable places: floating windows, south-facing bedrooms, and other scenes with strong heat insulation requirements.

4、Coated glass

Coated glass, also known as reflective glass, is coated with a metal, alloy, or metal compound film on the surface of the glass to change the optical properties of the glass to meet a specific requirement.

Low-E coated glass is not a classification of glass, it is a kind of glass coating process. low-E glass has high transmittance of visible light and high reflectivity of infrared light, so it has good thermal insulation performance and energy-saving effect.

(1) Characteristics: Significantly reduce the thermal conductivity of glass, thus improving the thermal insulation and heat preservation performance of glass.

1. Good indoor lighting effect, high visible light transmission rate, and permeability.

2. It allows a large amount of solar heat radiation to enter the room in winter, which can increase the heat energy in the room.

3. It can reflect the heating, household appliances, and far-infrared heat emitted by the human body in the sunroom to the interior, reducing the energy loss brought about by heating.

4. Diversified colors, fresh, natural, and elegant, can meet different design requirements.

5. Good noise and sound reduction performance, if the hollow layer is filled with inert gas, the performance will be better.

6. It has a good energy-saving effect, which can reduce the energy consumption of building operations and also reduce the installed capacity of air conditioning, which is good for environmental protection.

(2) Applicable places: Suitable for scenes with large glass use area and sufficient light, such as south bedroom, sunroom, and floating bay window.

(3)Unsuitable places: the back shade and the kitchen, bathroom and other places are not very useful.
